Notes:

A fascinating Victorian machine that looks like it might be a torture device or a steam-punk telegraph communications device, but in fact is a typewriter. You moved the needle to point to the character you wanted, pressed down a knob, and the letter would be marked onto the paper. It may seem that writing a book with this would be almost unbelievably tedious, but it looks really cool, and I’m told it was relatively fast.
