A Giraffe, an Elephant, and a Refrigerator

Found this via Jeremy and couldn’t resist re-posting it here:
The following short quiz consists of 4 questions and will tell you whether you are qualified to be a professional. The questions are NOT that difficult.

1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

2. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?

Wrong Answer.

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions.

3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend…. except one. Which animal does not attend?

Correct Answer: The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there. This tests your memory.

Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.

4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and you do not have a boat. How do you manage it?

Correct Answer: You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

Crockpot Nirvana

I am the chef of the house. Tonya doesn’t cook really and Daniel, Tonya’s 19yo son I seem to have adopted, would rather go to McDonald’s than turn on a stove… Thankfully, they both enjoy good, home-cooked food. Since that’s what I like to produce, we’re all quite happy :-)

So why am I in Crockpot Nirvana? Simple: I’ve found a way to cook all day and yet still work all day :-) The crockpost (slow cooker) lets me put together a meal today that, when eaten tomorrow, will taste like I’ve slaved over it for hours. So far, every meal I’ve tried with the crockpot has been a great success. So much so, I think you’ll be seeing recipes here soon…

All-New Home

Nine years ago, I moved to Toronto. Eight years, nine months ago I moved into an apartment. I always thoght of that apartment as temporary though (even after living there all those years).

Last month, I moved into a house. A home. A place that, after being here 2.5 weeks, I can’t imagine ever leaving. This house might be the nicest I’ve called home since popping out of the womb, and is certainly the nicest place I’ve lived since ‘leaving home’. Tonya (my partner), who has always been an Ohio country girl, now feels at home even though we still live in the heart of the city. We couldn’t love this house any more.

We plan to live here until the owners get sick of renting it out. Then I expect we’ll buy it :-) Who says you can’t have it all?

Blog, Reloaded

Well, it’s been a while since I posted anything to my blog. The comment spam was out of control. The software was out of date. It was time for a re-vamp! Maybe at some point I’ll work on getting my old blog posts back up, but for now it’s a complete re-boot. This is my all new blog. Welcome. Read. Enjoy. Assuming I actually start posting again… ;-)
