Ivy-covered walls the remains of masonry; a bridge across a moat. I think the telegraph wires are more recent.

Inside the gatehouse you can see right into the inner part of the castle, the inner bailey perhaps it was called.

Probably a hole that once supported the end of a beam to hold up a roof or floor of a building in the castle.
