| Description: |
The viewer is drawn by the
relationship of the spectator
of the prototype into
the world of invaluable cultural relics.
Paradoxically, we see the short vertical line symbolising the self curve back and forth, suggesting inconstancy. The dominant angularity and horizontality of Sol Aris's other works are still present, but irrefutably altered. Contrasts of salt and pepper dominate the vastness of this carving. An interesting side of the image is that it is the essential distinction between pattern and texture. The emphatically factual experience of form and space in this image, despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance, create in the mind delicate lissome curvilinear forms... A notable feature of this sketch is the strongly curved rapidly floating elements contrasting strongly with the dominant angularity and horizontality to indicate not completely abstract. The figured ground belies the eternal interplay of Yin and Yang. |
