Pretentious Yet Pointless
The here and now experience of form and space in this image, despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance, create in the mind duty, responsibility, discipline and work... A constantly changing network, the relationship of the spectator of which remains unchanged, is often in a different form by the essential fact of the viewer. This drawing is representative of one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the creation of the here and now experience of size and perception where the scale and openness to the piece is the sensuality of extinction. Such forms, quietly formal, create disarmingly intenste sensations. A particularly contentious aspect of this painting is the impersonal forms and industrial colours contrasting strongly with the dominant angularity and horizontality so clearly visible. In stereometric construction, the visual phenomena of the manifest world are, in themselves, meaningless: the important thing is feeling, as such.
