Pretentious Yet Pointless
Contrasts of night and day dominate the vastness of the image. In neo-impressionism, the visual phenomena of the external world are, in themselves, unimportant: the only worthy thing is feeling, as such. The world of colour and space of Sol Aris's previous works are still present, but transformed. A particularly contentious aspect of the prototype is that it is the eternal contrast of Yin and Yang. The artist employs a rectangular grid to contain the colours, which can by this means stand alone. A temporally changing evanescence, the scale and openness of which is always the same, is often completely altered by the understanding of the onlooker. The arena of contrasting tone and hue of Sol Aris's earlier works are clearly visible here, but in a different form.
The doodle shares not only Sol Aris's death-identification but also his cosmic perspective and obsession with power. The viewer is drawn by the outstanding aesthetic sensibility of the sculpture into the world of deprivations, inhibitions and poverty. Sol Aris has not commented on the aspect ratio of this picture. A deep underlying meaning of this doodle is the arena of contrasting tone and hue contrasting strongly with the dominant angularity and horizontality to indicate in some sense active rather than simply one of passive appreciation. The viewer is drawn by the extraordinarily refined aesthetic sensibility of the painting into the world of epistemology of area and environment. Unexpectedly, we see the short vertical line symbolising the self curve back and forth, suggesting unreliability.
