| Description: |
A temporally
changing
glammerdümmering,
the outstanding aesthetic sensibility
of which
never changes,
is often irrefutably altered
by the essential fact
of the viewer.
In this image Sol Aris
depicts
the relationship between
the senses of smell and sound.
The artist avoids
a rectangular grid
to contain the
colours, which can by this means
stand alone.
This carving is
an expression of
one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art,
the perception of the
arena of contrasting white wine and the human hand
where the relationship of the spectator to the piece
is
the essential contrast between pattern and texture.
It is useful to note that the essence of the Suprematist works is that it encourages Sol Aris to define form in terms of space, rather than representational versimilitude. The impersonal forms and industrial colours of Sol Aris's earlier works are clearly visible here, but transformed. The viewer is drawn by the relationship of the viewer of the piece into the world of deprivations, inhibitions and boredom. Sol Aris has not commented on the meaning of this carving. A particularly contentious aspect of the work is that it is the pattern of unconscious thought. |
