Pretentious Yet Pointless
The adorned figure belies the essential distinction between pattern and texture. The layers of approaching curves are intertwined in a homage to the Suprematist vision. Such forms, both serene and poetic, create strong gestalt sensations. This image is quintessential to one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the understanding of the world of sugar and wine where the scale and openness to the piece is a reflection of the process of creation. The drawing shares not only Sol Aris's death-identification but also his cosmic perspective and obsession with power. Sol Aris has not completed the individuality of this image.
