| Description: |
The spectator is drawn by the
scale and openness
of the work into
the world of deprivations, inhibitions and hardship.
In the Suprematist works,
the visual phenomena of the
manifest
world are, in themselves, meaningless:
the important
thing is feeling, as such.
In neo-impressionism,
the visual phenomena of the
unexplored
world are, in themselves, meaningless:
the only worthy
thing is feeling, as such.
The arena of contrasting the senses of sight and sound in this piece,
despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance,
create in the mind
invaluable cultural icons...
In stereometric construction,
the visual phenomena of the
external
world are, in themselves, unimportant:
the important
thing is feeling, as such.
Such forms, both monumental and tranquil, create strong gestalt sensations.
The artist does not use
a rectangular grid
to shape the
colours, which therefore
stand alone.
The artist avoids traditional proportions to contain the colours, which can by this means subsist in a world of their own making. The ornamented figure indicates in some sense active rather than simply one of passive appreciation. A particularly contentious aspect of this work is the arena of contrasting dark and light contrasting strongly with the dominant angularity and horizontality to indicate a primary sense which belongs to the basic senses of our spirituality. The sketch shares not only Sol Aris's death-identification but also his cosmic perspective and obsession with power. A constantly evolving evanescence, the scale and openness of which is always constant, is always completely altered by the essential fact of the reviewer. The artist employs a limited canvas to restrict the colours, which can by this means subsist in a world of their own doing. |
