| Description: | In post-impressionistic art, the visual phenomena of the external world are, in themselves, empty: the only worthy thing is feeling, as such. The beribboned ground enriches a natural sense which belongs to the basic senses of our physiology. Such forms, both monumental and poetic, create disarmingly strong feelings. The artist avoids a limited canvas to contain the colours, which in this way float free. |
