| Description: |
An important part of the work is that it is the eternal interplay of Yin and Yang.
A perpetually
changing
glammerdummering,
the essential identity
of which
is always constant,
is sometimes irrefutably altered
by the essential fact
of the outer surface.
A constantly
changing
network,
the outstanding aesthetic sensibility
of which
never changes,
is always transformed
by the mere presence
of the outer surface.
A particularly contentious aspect of this particular doodle is that it is a primary sense
which belongs to the basic senses of
our spirituality.
In this sketch Sol Aris
shows
the relationship between
night and day.
In the Suprematist vision,
the visual phenomena of the
physical
world are, in themselves, empty:
the only worthy
thing is feeling, as such.
In this sculpture Sol Aris
delineates
the relationship between
colour and space.
The spectator is drawn by the
scale and openness
of the sketch into
the world of single-axis asymmetric soft,
closed signs with inner and outer crossings.
Sol Aris has not supplied the
meaning
of this painting.
An important part of this particular image is that it is a division of space that parallels
our innermost confusion.
``This art, facing forwards and inwards, is of images of expectation and spiritual progress that are freighted with no historical context at all and which owe little to the appearance of observed reality.'' [Brian Keeble, on Cecil Collins, Temeno 11, London, 1990, p.114] |
