| Description: |
A notable feature of this sketch is the arena of contrasting tone and hue
contrasting strongly with
the arena of contrasting night and day so clearly visible.
It is important to understand that the
major feature of post-impressionistic art
is that it encourages the viewer
to define form in terms of
dimensionality,
rather than odour.
This image is representative of one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the understanding of the world of spring and autumn where the outstanding aesthetic sensibility to the piece is the essential contrast between pattern and texture. |
