| Description: |
A temporally
changing
evanescence,
the relationship of the viewer
of which
remains unchanged,
is always transformed
by the mere presence
of the outer surface.
An important part of this sketch is the impersonal forms and industrial colours
contrasting strongly with
the strongly
distorted
upward
reaching
articulations to indicate the eternal or spiritual dimension and its
limitless possibilities.
The arena of contrasting tone and hue
of
Sol Aris's earlier works are
still present,
but
entirely altered.
A deep underlying meaning of this particular painting is that it is the pattern of unconscious thought. The artist uses a limited canvas to define the colours, which in this way stand alone. The artist does not use a rectangular grid to define the colours, which in this way float free. ``What does it all mean? I have little idea... It seems to make use of an abstract idiom which is skirting very near to mere decorative doodling, rather intricately pretty, and yet it is clearly nothing to do with decoration because it's too obsessed.''
