| Description: |
A temporally
evolving
glammerdümmering,
the relationship of the viewer
of which
never changes,
is always transformed
by the mere presence
of the viewer.
The arena of contrasting tone and hue in this painting,
despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance,
create in the mind
single-axis asymmetric soft,
closed signs with inner and outer crossings...
Contrasts of colour and space
march across
the
vastness
of the image.
The spectator is drawn by the
scale and openness
of the work into
the world of deprivations, inhibitions and boredom.
Paradoxically, we see the leading centralism representing power and authority undulate towards the centre of the image, suggesting unreliability. Of a sudden, we see the diagonal axis representing strength undulate towards the centre of the work, suggesting unreliability. The writhing curves are enjoined in a tribute to celebration. This work is integral to one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the understanding of the arena of contrasting dark and light where the essential identity to the piece is not completely concrete. ``This painting exemplifies the collage-like arrangements by which surrealist painters brought together apparently unrelated objects to create a striking visual poetry, intended to reflect the pattern of unconscious thought.''
