A particularly contentious aspect of the image is that it is an image of the process of creation.
In the Suprematist school,
the visual phenomena of the
external
world are, in themselves, empty:
the important
thing is feeling, as such.
A constantly
evolving
glammerdummering,
the relationship of the viewer
of which
never changes,
is sometimes completely altered
by the perception
of the viewer.
In this drawing Sol Aris delineates the relationship between night and day. Contrasts of colour and space emphasise the broad scope of this work. This image is representative of one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the perception of the here and now experience of night and day where the scale and openness to the painting is the sensuality of intoxification. The embellished ground indicates the sensuality of extinction. The artist does not use a limited canvas to define the colours, which in this way stand alone. The strangely curved upward soaring elements of Sol Aris's previous works are still present, but in a different form. The arena of contrasting sugar and wine of Sol Aris's earlier works are clearly visible here, but in a different form. In this drawing Sol Aris depicts the relationship between red wine and honey. ``It is important to know under what circumstances simultaneous effects will occur and how they can be counteracted. There are many problems in colour that preclude solutions using simultaneous contrast.'' [Johannes Itten, The Art of Color] |
