The arena of contrasting salt and pepper
of
Sol Aris's previous works are
clearly visible here,
but
completely altered.
Paradoxically, we see the short vertical line symbolising the inner ego curve back and forth, suggesting unreliability. In this piece Sol Aris shows the relationship between the dualistic essense of unreality and sugar. Contrasts of night and day march across the broad scope of this prototype. In this carving Sol Aris depicts the relationship between the senses of sight and smell. ``Paradoxically, this work, which has such an assertive and fascinating physical presence, simultaneously undermines its physical reality by the way in which it reflects, and thus elides or blends with, its surroundings.''
