Description: In surrealism, the visual phenomena of the external world are, in themselves, empty: the only worthy thing is feeling, as such. A central underlying meaning of this particular image is that it is the eternal interaction of Yin and Yang. An important part of this work is the strangely distorted upward flying elements contrasting strongly with the gently distorted quickly floating articulations so clearly visible. The artist uses a rectangular grid to contain the colours, which therefore stand alone. It is useful to note that the essence of abstract art is that it enables Sol Aris to define form in terms of area, rather than mass. Such forms, both serene and tranquil, create a strong interplay of forces. The arena of contrasting toothpaste and honey of Sol Aris's previous works are clearly visible here, but in a different form. The artist does not use a limited canvas to contain the colours, which thus float free.

``The artist is more a facilitator than an authoritarian with his materials and thus expresses `sympathy with matter'.''
