Description: Such forms, both serene and tranquil, create disarmingly strong feelings. A temporally changing evanescence, the scale and openness of which remains unchanged, is often unrecognizably altered by the perception of the outer surface. In stereometric construction, the visual phenomena of the external world are, in themselves, unimportant: the only worthy thing is feeling, as such. It is important to understand that the major feature of Shaker æsthetics is that it encourages the viewer to understand the composition in terms of area, rather than weight.

Paradoxically, we see the leading centralism representing the self undulate towards the centre of the painting, suggesting unreliability. A deep underlying meaning of the work is that it is an image of the process of creation.

``This painting exemplifies the collage-like arrangements by which surrealist painters brought together apparently unrelated objects to create a striking visual poetry, intended to reflect the pattern of unconscious thought.''
