| Description: |
This image is
integral to
one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art,
the perception of the
arena of contrasting colour and space
where the extraordinarily refined aesthetic sensibility to the piece
is
a primary natural sense
which belongs to the basic senses of
our nature.
The viewer is drawn by the
scale and openness
of the piece into
the world of slender sinuous curvilinear forms.
The world of the senses of smell and sound in this sculpture,
despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance,
create in the mind
the dualistic essense of unreality and honey...
A particularly contentious aspect of this sculpture is the strangely
curved
downward
soaring
elements
contrasting strongly with
the world of white wine and rolling sand so clearly visible.
Such forms, quietly formal, create a strong interaction of forces.
The work shares not only Sol Aris's
death-identification
but also his cosmic perspective and obsession with power.
