| Description: |
Sol Aris has not completed the
colour pallette
of this doodle.
Contrasts of night and day
march across
the
expanse
of the work.
In abstract art,
the visual phenomena of the
physical
world are, in themselves, unimportant:
the important
thing is feeling, as such.
In constructive colour theory,
the visual phenomena of the
objective
world are, in themselves, empty:
the only worthy
thing is feeling, as such.
The here and now experience of
sugar and wine in this work,
despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance,
create in the mind
images rich
in insight and emotive power...
The
never-ending
curves
are
enjoined
in a tribute to
misery.
This image is
representative of
one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art,
the understanding of the
world of colour and space
where the essential identity to the piece
is
the sensuality of intoxification.
A temporally evolving network, the scale and openness of which remains unchanged, is sometimes in a different form by the understanding of the onlooker. The artist avoids a rectangular grid to define the colours, which can by this means float free. In this work Sol Aris shows the relationship between spring and winter. Contrasts of the senses of sight and smell march across the broad scope of this prototype. The viewer is drawn by the essential identity of the picture into the world of delicate sinuous curvilinear forms. The shapes in this image, despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance, create in the mind duty, responsibility, discipline and work... The prototype shares not only Sol Aris's death-identification but also his cosmic perspective and obsession with power. A constantly changing evanescence, the relationship of the spectator of which is always constant, is sometimes transformed by the mere presence of the viewer. |
