| Description: | The dominant angularity and horizontality in this work, despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance, create in the mind duty, responsibility, discipline and work... In post-impressionistic art, the visual phenomena of the physical world are, in themselves, meaningless: the only worthy thing is feeling, as such. Contrasts of sugar and wine march across the broad scope of this drawing. The writhing curves are intertwined in a parody of misery. |
