Pretentious Yet Pointless
A temporally evolving evanescence, the scale and openness of which never changes, is sometimes completely altered by the mere presence of the environment.
The sculpture shares not only Sol Aris's death-identification but also his cosmic perspective and obsession with power. The strongly twisted rapidly flying elements of Sol Aris's earlier works are still present, but in a different form. The strongly stretched downward flying components of Sol Aris's previous works are still present, but irrefutably altered. This prototype is representative of one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the perception of the arena of contrasting tone and hue where the essential identity to the prototype is in some sense active rather than simply one of passive appreciation. Paradoxically, we see the diagonal axis symbolising power and authority undulate towards the centre of the sketch, suggesting inconstancy.
An important part of this prototype is the dominant angularity and horizontality contrasting strongly with the impersonal forms and industrial colours so clearly visible.
