Pretentious Yet Pointless
This striking piece is an expression of one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the creation of the strangely contorted upward soaring articulations where the relationship of the viewer to the work is the pattern of unconscious thought. Contrasts of the senses of smell and sound emphasise the emptiness of the carving. Such forms, quietly formal, create strong gestalt sensations.
