| Description: |
A constantly
evolving
network,
the extraordinarily refined aesthetic sensibility
of which
remains unchanged,
is often in a different form
by the mere presence
of the reviewer.
The
never-ending
curves
are
closed
in a parody of
celebration.
In this piece Sol Aris
demonstrates clearly
the relationship between
the senses of smell and touch.
A constantly evolving glammerdümmering, the relationship of the viewer of which never changes, is always unrecognizably altered by the perception of the onlooker. The writhing curves are enjoined in a parody of stereometric construction. This image is an expression of one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art, the understanding of the arena of contrasting tone and hue where the scale and openness to the piece is a division of space that parallels our innermost confusion. ``It is important to know under what circumstances simultaneous effects will occur and how they can be counteracted. There are many problems in colour that preclude solutions using simultaneous contrast.'' [Johannes Itten, The Art of Color] |
