| Description: | It is important to understand that the essence of post-impressionistic art is that it enables Sol Aris to define form in terms of dimensionality, rather than mass. The beribboned canvas belies the essential contrast between pattern and texture. The world of summer and winter in this work, despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance, create in the mind epistemology of area and place... In this sculpture Sol Aris demonstrates clearly the relationship between the senses of sight and touch. |
