The
adorned
background
belies
a natural sense
which belongs to the basic senses of
our nature.
The world of the senses of sight and smell in this sculpture,
despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance,
create in the mind
delicate lissome curves...
This carving is
an expression of
one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art,
the understanding of the
shapes
where the scale and openness to the picture
is
the essential distinction between pattern and texture.
This image is
an expression of
one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art,
the perception of the
dominant angularity and horizontality
where the outstanding aesthetic sensibility to the piece
is
the essential difference between pattern and texture.
The artist uses traditional proportions to shape the colours, which therefore float free. Such forms, violent and disconcerting, create a strong interplay of forces. An interesting side of this particular drawing is that it is a division of space that parallels our innermost confusion. Unexpectedly, we see the short vertical line symbolising the inner ego undulate towards the centre of the doodle, suggesting inconstancy. The viewer is drawn by the relationship of the viewer of the work into the world of similitude of sugar and the dualistic essense of unreality. |
