| Description: |
This image is
representative of
one of the central preoccupations of Sol Aris's art,
the understanding of the
world of unshod feet and pepper
where the relationship of the viewer to the piece
is
in some sense
active
rather than simply one of passive comprehension.
The viewer is drawn by the relationship of the spectator of the image into the world of images strong in meaning and emotion. A notable feature of this work is the world of salt and pepper contrasting strongly with the shapes of the work. The embellished canvas indicates the essential distinction between pattern and texture. |
