| Description: |
It is useful to note that the
major feature of post-impressionistic art
is that it enables the viewer
to define form in terms of
area,
rather than odour.
Of a sudden,
we see the
diagonal axis
representing
power and authority
undulate towards the centre of the work,
suggesting
inconstancy.
The artist employs
traditional proportions
to contain the
colours, which thus
stand alone.
A constantly
changing
glammerdümmering,
the extraordinarily refined aesthetic sensibility
of which
is always the same,
is always in a different form
by the mere presence
of the outer surface.
The here and now experience of night and day in this image, despite appearing disarmingly simple at first glance, create in the mind similarity of the senses of sight and sound... Such forms, violent and disconcerting, create complex and fascinating interactions with the environment. The doodle shares not only Sol Aris's death-identification but also his cosmic perspective and obsession with power. Sol Aris has not commented on the meaning of this image. The never-ending curves are closed in a parody of misery. A perpetually changing glammerdummering, the essential identity of which is always the same, is always completely altered by the perception of the reviewer. The subtly stretched rapidly flying elements of Sol Aris's previous works are clearly visible here, but transformed. ``Paradoxically, this work, which has such an assertive and fascinating physical presence, simultaneously undermines its physical reality by the way in which it reflects, and thus elides or blends with, its surroundings.''
