Kehahn/Namess: Khadi: Heir to the Second Seat in Kehahn the Impregnable

Khadi starts out as a nineteen-year-old youth, naked and barefoot, riding the great six-legged orange bearing beast Paha'Amit on a quest to find the Third Key of Art'Kennon.

Growing up in Kehahn, Khadi has never seen trees, clothing, boots, domestic animals, and a host of other things we take for granted. He also assumes that women have no minds, and are a sort of dumb animal used for breeding, since that is how they are treated in the fortress.

Unlike most Outsiders, Khadi is strong in the Power. If he succeeds in his quest to find the Third Key, however, the Gate of Art'Kennon will be opened, and the Power will return.

Trained in a world where there are no posessions, and where (because of mind-reading) no secrets can be kept, Khadi is not used to granting other people privacy, or to respecting their rights. He runs rough-shod over everyone he meets (well, barefoot actually, since he goes everywhere naked!).

Khadi is arrogant: he is, after all, Royalty. He does not accept what he sees round him: it is all very different from what he is used to. He wasbrought up to believe that Outsiders exist only to serve the dwellers within the Fortress, and that their lives do not matter. Learning that they are real people, and that all people deserve respect and love, is a slow and painful process for him, but also a central part of his Quest.
